About Us

What's Our Mission?
We are women in music supporting, empowering, teaching, learning, producing events and promoting each other, providing a safe place to start and a hand up along the ladder of success.
What's Our Vision?
We will hand the mic to women.  We believe that artistic expression through music communicates ideas, and when all perspectives join the conversation, it creates a healthier society and it changes our perception of self.  It's time for our voices to be heard.

We Started in the summer of 2012 from a simple observation; that female musicians weren't breaking through the wall of guys on stage at the open jams...not even close to 50%.  Our founder, Marva Besette, wondered why and how to change that.  Was it because girls had fewer role models, didn't have other women to practice with, had unequal pay, time and opportunity?  And recently, women made up less than 10% of Grammy nominees.  We need to change that.

Now We Are a 501c3 non-profit organization with a board of directors, hundreds of members and events we've supported.  We produce events for instruction, practice, performance, networking and promotion.  Connections provide opportunities; working bands even get their start here.  We're always planning more, so contact us if you have ideas to help in our mission.  Join the movement and always stay tuned in and tuned up!
